Opening Day and Cookie Competition – Nov. 23, 2011
Celebrate opening day at Beaver Creek and round out the day before Thanksgiving by munching on warm chocolate chip cookies. The eighth annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition takes place opening day of the 2011-2012 winter season, where the top five recipes will be selected to compete for bragging rights as the official cookie of Beaver Creek. Five finalists chosen from a number of fall entries bake and serve 1,000 cookies each on Nov. 23. Hungry skiers and riders vote and the top cookie recipe is chosen and designated as the official Cookie time recipe for the season. Holiday Tree Lighting and Gingerbread House Competition- Nov. 25, 2011
Tradition holds strong in Beaver Creek as the 31st annual Holiday Tree Lighting in the Village signifies the kickoff of not only another great ski season but also the start of the holiday season at Beaver Creek. For generations families have participated in the Tree Lighting which includes a fireworks display along with a holiday poetry contest, a visit by Santa on a zamboni and in recent years, the Gingerbread House Competition which showcases amazing pieces of gingerbread art forms by local chefs. The Gingerbread Competition entries are auctioned and all proceeds support Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a local organization serving children in Eagle, Summit, Lake and Clear Creek counties.

Birds of Prey World Cup – Dec. 2-4, 2011
On the heels of a winning season, World Championship gold medalist and reigning overall giant slalom champion Ted Ligety will return to the spectator-friendly Birds of Prey World Cup at Beaver Creek to defend his 2010 GS victory Dec. 2-4, 2011. The 2011 lineup offers a Downhill, Super G and Giant Slalom, and is the only domestic stop for the US men on one of the world’s toughest courses. Every race counts leading up to the 2015 World Alpine Championships being held at Beaver Creek/ Vail, and the U.S. men’s alpine team is hunting for gold.

Beaver Creek Loves Kids and 1st Annual Winterfest – Dec. 18, 2011- Jan. 1, 2012; Feb. 18-25, 2012 and March 10 – April 7, 2012
Beaver Creek Resort presents the 1st annual Winterfest celebration this holiday season as part of the popular family program, Beaver Creek Loves Kids. Winterfest will take place from Dec. 18, 2011 – Jan. 1, 2012 and will be a grand celebration of all that is magical about the holidays and winter in the mountains. The two week event will feature theatrical elements and decoration, and interactive family events and activities that are designed to animate Beaver Creek Village and bring the winter and holiday spirit to life. Beaver Creek Loves Kids Winterfest also will feature a great lineup of family events and activities including daily appearances from Santa, a Kids Winter Wonder parade, Disco Skate Nights, figure skating performances, an Animals of Winter presentation by the Denver Zoo, torchlight ski downs, fireworks and more. In addition to Winterfest, Beaver Creek Loves Kids will take place during other holidays throughout the season including President’s Week Feb. 18-25, 2012, Spring Break March 10-31, 2012 and Easter week April 1-7, 2012.
 
EpicMIx Scavenger Hunt Jan. 7, 2012
Beaver Creek’s EpicMix Scavenger Hunt is a one-of-a-kind mountain event that combines elements of a traditional scavenger hunt with the power of EpicMix for a fun, interactive experience! The concept is simple: solve riddles to unlock themed EpicMix virtual pins in scattered locations throughout the mountain. Each pin has a point value assigned to it, and the top three participants who have accumulated the most points at the end of the event will win some great prizes! Don’t worry if you’re not in the top three though, you’ll still have a chance to receive event giveaways and even be entered into the après party prize raffle! Anyone can participate, anyone can win. The event takes place Jan. 7, 2012 beginning with first chair at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m., followed by an après party from 3-5 p.m. Registration is $10 for a solo entry or $30 for a group entry of up to five people. Snowshoe Adventure Series Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 11, 2012
Take your snowshoeing to new heights as a beginner or world class level snowshoer for the Snowshoe Adventure Series which features competitive 5K and 10K events as well as the Kids’ 1K. In addition to renowned alpine skiing, Beaver Creek is home to 30 K of designated Nordic and snowshoe trails in McCoy Park, located at 10,000 feet and surrounded by stunning mountain ranges. The series includes a cash purse and participants may enter one or all of the events. In addition to snowshoe demos and sponsor booths, competitors enjoy a post-race party in the Village. 

Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend Jan. 26-28, 2012
Beaver Creek, along with Food & Wine Magazine, welcomes six of the country’s top chefs paired with local and renowned chefs to celebrate all things culinary this winter with the Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend. This brand new event will feature a weekend of fun and interactive culinary events beginning Thursday night with the Meet the Chefs Reception and ending Saturday night with the Grand Tasting. Other highlights will include the Guided Snowshoe and Luncheon, First Tracks Ski Breakfast, wine seminars and cooking classes. Guest chefs for the 2012 Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend include Tim Love, Stephanie Izzard, John Besh, Richard Sandoval, Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and Marc Murphy along with wine expert Anthony Giglio. Talons Challenge and Talons Kid – March 3-4, 2012
Beaver Creek’s signature Talon’s Challenge event held March 3, 2012 tackles nearly 24,000 vertical and showcases the mountain’s toughest 13 black and double-black diamond runs in one day. Participants return year after year and come from all over to earn a spot on the electronic wall of fame at Red Tail Camp. Now kids will have an interactive experience all their own with the new Talons Kids event, March 4, 2012.

Vintage Ski Fest and Race – April 7, 2012
A celebration of ski history, racing and tradition returns to Beaver Creek with the third annual Vintage Ski Fest and Race. So dust off the ol’ skis and sign up to celebrate the final weekend of the 2011-2012 ski and snowboard season. The event is a throwback to the 1940s featuring a lineup of competitions on the Haymeadow Race Course complete with canvas competitor bibs, hand-painted banners, natural bamboo gates, an old fashioned scoreboard and more. New last year, the event featured the addition of a Classic Bumps Competition and a Vintage Vendors Fair.
