After receiving numerous entries from around the country for the competition, the top five finalists were Sara Braucht of Eagle; Laura Littman and Jonah and Asher Lefkoff of Boulder; Monika Hornbostel of Edwards; Jim Lee, “Big Daddy” of Medina, WA; and Anne Sullivan of Eagle-Vail. The finalists served their recipes to an eager crowd during the festive celebration in the village where three lucky kids served as the official judging panel. The winner received$1,000; second was awarded $500; and third place received $250. Fourth and fifth place winners will receive two tickets to any performance at the Vilar Performing Arts Center.
“We had a great crowd for today’s ninth annual Cookie Competition,” said Cat Coughran, director of events at Beaver Creek Resort Company. “The kids’ judging panel provided a great way to include the community and the enthusiasm surrounding this event provides a fun, festive afternoon for the mountain’s opening day. All of the recipes were unique and the cookies were delicious. We congratulate our five finalists as well as our new Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition recipe winner for the 2012-2013 season, Jim Lee.”
